Social Media – More up to date than CNN??

Last week a couple of internet analysts have revealed results of a study concerning in how we get news currently. This study was based on a survey of 2,259 adults and shows that three fourth of the people who find news online get it either forwarded trough mail or even more posted on Social Network Sites.
Besides that the survey also shows that very few people (7%) are getting news from a single media platform. Most of the people (46%) claim they get news from six media platforms during one day. While still the TV is the most popular (78%) platform the popularity of internet is rising with an obvious second place (61%). Finally, people claim they use more and more apps on a mobile phone, and lots of them retweet news by Twitter or share news while posting on Facebook.

All of the above mentioned trends are not very surprisingly to me. Nowadays probably 80% of all people is using social network sites moreover the popularity of internet on mobile phones is rising. Therefore it’s easier for people to communicate trough social network sites. In this way they can easily be kept up to date and friends and family are able to forward interesting items.
